THE PHILOSOPHY
Jewellery is among the earliest traces of human existence and as such is
part of our cultural inheritance, along with sculpture, paintings, music and language.
However, the value of jewellery cannot be measured in ounces or carats alone. Its highest value lies in the joy of wearing it.
Some jewellery, especially rings, are often passed from generation to
generation and carry with them many wonderful stories from the lives of
their owners. Here in my studio in Kaiserslautern, the stories and
treasures of today and tomorrow are fashioned into something uniquely
personal for you - and by you.
Goldschmiedemeister Nikolaus Schneider
The Standard:
A piece of jewellery is as individual as you are - and with my help, you and
I can design it together. With more than 30 years experience in the design
and creation of original jewellery - you know you have come to the right
place at Nikolaus Schneider Goldschmiedemeister.
Your vision is the centre point and will be constantly kept in focus. My
part is to transform your ideas, or your story, into jewellery, using all
the skills and experience of a master craftsman.
THE MAKING
The crafting of jewellery takes up most of the time in the Studio, but
before creation and development can begin, a meeting with the client is
necessary. During this initial discussion, your idea of the jewellery piece
will be outlined in a graphic sketch and a first draft of the concept is
then made. The aim is to ensure that nothing is omitted so as to capture
and express your vision completely.
Each piece of jewellery, once begun at the work table, receives the highest standard of skilled craftsmanship. All popular precious metals
and their alloys are used. Added diamonds and other precious stones further enhance the piece.
Talking of Diamonds…
Not only do diamonds play a role in quality criteria but also in responsibility! In my Studio, the diamonds come only from reputable dealers, and comply with the appropriate UN-Resolutions.
Each finished piece of jewellery receives a signed authentication with a
photograph. Others, on request, will also include a detailed description
in which the distinctiveness of the jewellery is documented.
All materials, as well as diamonds and coloured precious metals are offered
at market value.
Reworking of old gold jewellery can also be made on request. Likewise, reworking heirlooms which have seen better days, can result in a delightful updating of family history.

THE STUDIO
The making of original and beautiful jewellery requires time, patience and skill, as well as an environment conducive to a creative frame of mind and the flow of inspiration.
The Blue Room
The ’Blue Room‘ is the place where this creative chemistry takes place and into which you can bring your ideas and your memories, but also your dreams and desires. Then, beginning with preliminary sketches and later with sophisticated, detailed drafts, all the ingredients necessary can be brought together and begin the journey of becoming art in a piece of jewellery.
The History of the Studio
The Studio has just the right ambience for such ’art work‘. Over one hundred years ago, it was a small dairy shop with wooden floors, which are still in place and continue to lend character to the Studio. In the summer months the air and light in the Studio seem to combine with the history of the surroundings to create an atmosphere of active serenity – the ideal workspace in which to make original, unique and highly personal jewellery.
